How this calculation works
Billable hours = (52 − weeks off) × weekly hours × billable share. Revenue target = (income + expenses) / (1 − profit margin/100). Hourly rate = revenue target / billable hours. The personal income target is before tax; this is a planning scenario, with no jurisdiction-specific deductions or guaranteed utilization.
Worked example
Income 48,000 plus expenses 12,000, 48 working weeks, 40 hours and 50% billable time, with no buffer, requires 62.50 per billable hour.
